CUSCO – PUNO PACKAGE 6 DAYS / 5 NIGHTS

 

 

This tour is a combination of two fantastic destinations: Cusco and Puno, both cities come together to provide a quick overview of ancient Peruvian culture. Cusco was the capital of the "Inca Empire", a combination of Inca architecture with Spanish influence that has shaped a city to surprise and seduce all who visit.

With excellent hotels, good restaurants and lots of crafts, Cusco has beautiful places to visit such as the Cathedral of Cusco, also known as the Cathedral Basilica of the Virgin of the Assumption, is the largest religious monument in the city, is located in northeast of the Plaza de Armas. In the past this place was the "Suntur Wasi" or "Palace of Viracocha Inca." Inside has passages leading to the temples of the "Triumph" and "Church of the Holy Family." The Coricancha, initially named "Inti Kancha". The meaning in current language is "Golden Enclosure" in the past, was one of the most respected and revered temples in the Inca Empire as reverence he surrendered the "Sun" or "Inti" god. He also served as an administrative center.  Tambomachay is an archaeological site that was intended for the worship of water and resting place of the Inca chief. This center has canals, aqueducts and waterfalls, the most salient is the main waterfall with great creativity of the Incas was divided into two completely identical secondary cascades. Also visit "Awanacancha", a resort where they are known and feed Andean camelids: llamas and alpacas also his people show us their techniques of weaving and dyeing of traditional Native textiles. The next destination is "Pisac" Inca and Colonial, on top of the mountain predominant Pisac is located one of the most beautiful Inca archaeological sites of the Sacred Valley. Also, Ollantaytambo is another archaeological site having ancient temples, shrines and purification baths. We will also visit Machu Picchu, or "Old Mountain", considered a masterpiece of engineering and architecture of the Inca culture thanks to which it has become one of the world's most popular tourist destinations. It is said that Machu Picchu was the resting place of the Inca Pachacutec, however, as studies have been used as a religious shrine. The region of Puno saw the development of the most important pre-Inca cultures: Tiahuanaco. Puno is famous for holding the "Fiesta de la Virgen Candelaria" each year receives thousands of visitors and devotees who come to witness the festival. Among the places you can visit are: Floating Islands of Uros. They are a group of islands made of reeds and located on Lake Titicaca. Taquile Island, is the largest island, has an adequate geographical area for tourists, will visit the place largely guided by their own friendly people.

DAY 01. CUSCO.

Upon arrival, transfer from the airport to your hotel accommodation.

Briefing on the tourism program and evening we'll have the City Tour.

We begin the tour visiting the Temple of Koricancha, Cathedral and the ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay. Our main transport will be a bus with professional tour guide, in each place we stop for a personal visit of the site.

We returned to our hotel in Cusco.

DAY 02. THE SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS.

Today we have to visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas, this was the center of the agricultural wealth of the Incas. We will visit the archaeological site of Pisac and Craft Market, Urubamba, Fortress and Citadel of Ollantaytambo, Chinchero and  his church.

Return to Cusco.

Overnight in Cusco.

DAY 03.- CUSCO – MACHU PICCHU.

We started the day early with breakfast at the hotel

You will be transferred to the train station to go to Machu Picchu.

We arrive at Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town) and a bus will take us to Machu Picchu early with a professional guide who will accompany us throughout the tour of the archaeological complex.

After we will lunch at the assigned restaurant in Aguas Calientes or Machu Picchu town (this is includes).

In the afternoon return by train to Cusco.

DAY 4.- CUSCO - PUNO

We take them from your hotel to the bus station, heading to Puno. We will be visiting the following archaeological remains:

ANDAHUAYLILLAS: Built in the late sixteenth century, one of his murals is signed by "Luis de Riaño," dated to 1626. It was under the patronage of San Pedro, although the main altar is presided by the Virgin of the Rosary.

RAQCHI: The "Temple of Viracocha" is a grandiose construction for its time, is classified as architecturally "kallanka". It was completely covered with wooden roof and "ichu".

LA RAYA: The highest point of the route is located at 4,335 meters. It is the dividing line between the cities of Cusco and Puno. Visualize the snowy Chimboya. The Sacred River of the Incas (Vilcanota) arises at this point.

PUKARA: Located 106 kms from the city of Puno. This is an potters town, which retains the name of the first civilization of southern Peru, which dates back to 1600 BC.

When we get to Puno we will be led to the hotel chosen and we'll have the details of the circuits in Puno.

DAY 5.- PUNO - UROS, TAQUILE.

We will depart from your hotel to start the tour.

We recommend you wear comfortable shoes to climb to the top of the island, so it is advisable to bring warm clothes and drinking water.

Taquile is reached after three hours away by boat.

The island is located 30.5 km east of the city of Puno on Lake Grande, where a different lifestyle is appreciated; we'll see natives with typical and traditional attires, they are very friendly, you will always be welcome anywhere here.

We'll have lunch fresh fish: trout and mackerel and enjoy a splendid lakeside landscape with imposing mountains of the Cordillera Real of Bolivia.

On Taquile we will see comparable quality fabrics only with looms Paracas and Egypt.

In November 2005, the fabric of Taquile was declared "Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity" by UNESCO to preserve tissues (symbols and uses) that are passed from parents to children. This tour includes a visit to the floating islands of Uros.
